The familiar story

Most step challenges peak in week one.

A launch-day spike, a quiet leaderboard by week two, and a participation number you'd rather not present. It isn't motivation that's missing — it's mechanics.

Manual tracking kills momentum

If joining means installing a pedometer app and typing in totals, most of the company opts out by day three.

The same ten people win

When only raw step totals count, your marathoners dominate and everyone else stops checking the leaderboard.

Nothing to come back for

One bad day shouldn't end someone's challenge. Without streaks, milestones, and rewards, it does.

No proof it worked

A screenshot of a spreadsheet isn't a result. Leadership asks who participated and what changed — and the answer is usually a shrug.

Every one of these is a design problem. Vantage Fit's step challenges are built around the fixes: automatic tracking, fair scoring, real rewards, and reporting that holds up in a leadership review.

Five formats, one platform

Run the challenge your culture will finish.

Start from a ready-made template — format, targets, and scoring pre-set — or configure your own. Every format syncs steps automatically, scores in real time, and supports teams.

1–2 weeks

Race

The classic: a straight step-count showdown on a live leaderboard. No targets, no tasks — just total steps. The fastest way to get a whole company moving.

Best for: a first challenge or company-wide energizer

2–4 weeks

Streak

Everyone chases the same daily step target and fights to keep their streak alive. Miss a day and the streak resets — rankings count total days completed, so a slip never ends the game.

Best for: building a daily walking habit

3 templates included

Journey

Steps move individuals or teams along a virtual map — the 7 Wonders of the World, Backpacking Europe, or an Everest climb — earning points at every milestone.

Best for: storytelling and themed campaigns

Custom distance

E-Marathon

Steps convert to distance on the leaderboard — 1,000 steps to a kilometer by default, your ratio, your units. A marathon everyone in the company can enter.

Best for: event-style pushes with a finish line

Most flexible

Custom multi-week

Weekly themes with any mix of 27 task types — steps, distance, active minutes, water, sleep, meditation, and more. The format most long-running programs grow into.

Best for: keeping engagement past week two

No extra setup

Run them in parallel

No limit on concurrent challenges, and one walk counts toward every challenge an employee joins — each with its own leaderboard, points, and audience.

Best for: regions, departments, and squads at once

The participation engine

Built so week three feels like week one.

Four mechanics, working together, that keep a challenge alive after the launch-day buzz wears off.

01

Zero-effort tracking

Steps sync themselves. No manual entry, no extra hardware to buy or distribute.

  • iPhone and Android phones count steps out of the box — no wearable required
  • Fitbit and Garmin connect directly; Apple Watch and most popular bands sync via Apple Health
  • One primary device at a time, so steps never double-count
02

Competition that stays fair

Designed so the middle of the leaderboard still has a reason to walk.

  • Team scores average members' effort — a few power walkers can't carry a squad
  • Daily step caps and anti-cheat checks keep leaderboards honest
  • Anyone can opt out of rankings and still take part and earn points
  • A 3-day sync buffer after the end date means late wearable syncs still count
03

Rewards worth walking for

Effort converts to points in real time — and points convert to things people actually want.

  • Points credit the moment a milestone or daily target is hit
  • Redeemable for gift cards from a country-relevant catalogue, in local currency, across 190+ countries
  • One wallet shared with Vantage Circle recognition — wellness wins spend like appreciation
04

Recognition beyond the win

Only three people podium. Everyone else still needs a reason — so progress itself gets recognized.

  • Automatic badges across 25+ levels — from a 3,000-step day to marathon-distance runs
  • Branded completion certificates with your logo, seal, and signature, generated at challenge end
  • Weekly summaries and reminders land automatically — no manual nudging
For HR & program managers

Launch in minutes. Report like you meant it.

You shouldn't need a wellness coordinator to run a wellness challenge. Templates carry the configuration; the dashboard carries the proof.

  • Templates, not blank pages

Pre-built challenges ship with format, targets, scoring, and weekly themes set. Choose dates and audience, and go live — a steps-only race can launch in 1–2 days.

  • Aim it at the right people

Target by department, country, age group, or language. Enroll automatically or bulk-upload a CSV. Run separate challenges for regions or business units at the same time.

  • One challenge, every time zone

Starts, ends, and daily resets localize to each participant's midnight — a 30-day challenge is 30 true days everywhere. Rewards set in USD display in local currency.

  • Managed without busywork

Edit dates, themes, and tasks mid-challenge; send push notifications to participants; export the leaderboard to CSV any time.

Enterprise trust

IT signs off. Employees opt in.

A step challenge touches every employee's phone — so security, privacy, and residency are part of the product, not an appendix.

Security & compliance

SOC 2 Type II compliant, with GDPR, ISO 27001, and ISO 27701 practices. Documentation available during evaluation.

Regional data residency

Employee data stays in its assigned region — US, EU, India, or UAE. Nothing moves across borders.

SSO & HRIS ready

SAML 2.0 single sign-on with Okta, Azure AD, OneLogin, or Ping. HRIS and SFTP provisioning keep rosters in sync.

Privacy by design

Admins see aggregate metrics — never individual health profiles. Leaderboard opt-out is built in, and employee data is never sold or shared for advertising.

FAQ

Questions HR teams ask.

Do employees need a fitness tracker?

No. iPhones and Android phones count steps on their own through Apple Health and Google Fit, so anyone with a smartphone can join. Employees who have them can connect Fitbit or Garmin directly, and Apple Watch plus most popular bands sync through Apple Health. One primary device is active at a time, so steps never double-count.

Can we run one challenge across countries and time zones?

Yes — that's the default, not a special case. Start dates, end dates, and daily resets localize to each participant's midnight, so a 30-day challenge is 30 true calendar days for everyone. Rewards configured in USD display in each employee's local currency with a country-relevant gift-card catalogue.

How do teams work?

Add teams to Streak, Journey, or Custom challenges. Team scores are the average of members' effort — not the sum — so every person's steps matter and a small squad of power walkers can't dominate. Create teams in the dashboard, bulk-upload them via CSV, or let employees form their own. A separate team leaderboard runs alongside the individual one.

How long does it take to launch?

Pre-built templates carry the format, targets, scoring, and weekly themes — you set the dates, audience, and rewards. Most teams launch in days; a steps-only race with CSV enrollment can go live in 1–2 days.

What can we report when it's over?

The admin dashboard tracks participation rate, active users, and team rankings live. After the challenge, export the leaderboard (weekly or overall, by department), a participation report with one row per enrolled employee, and a full points transaction ledger for reward-budget reconciliation — all as CSVs.

What stops people from cheating?

Step data only counts from trusted sources — phone sensors and connected wearables, not manual entries. Daily and hourly step caps flag inhuman totals, and admins can inspect suspicious activity. A 3-day sync buffer after the end date lets late wearable syncs count before winners are finalized.
