The familiar story

A parking-lot 5K was never going to include everyone.

Only the runners show up

A traditional race draws the same athletic few. Everyone else watches from the sidelines, or doesn't come at all.

One city, one morning

Remote and global teams can't join an event that happens in one parking lot at 7 a.m.

Logistics eat the budget

Permits, route marshals, insurance, and t-shirts, all paid for before anyone takes a single step.

Over by 9 a.m.

A nice photo, a sweaty email thread, and no numbers leadership can actually use.

A virtual marathon keeps the shared-start-line energy and drops every barrier. Same event, every office, every fitness level.

How it works

Every step becomes distance.

Employees walk, run, or wheel as they normally do. Vantage Fit converts steps to kilometers on a live leaderboard.

01

Move as you normally do

Steps sync from the phone or wearable employees already have. Distance comes from step count, not GPS, so no routes to plan and no workouts to start.

02

Watch the distance add up

1,000 steps becomes a kilometer by default, on a ratio and in units (km or miles) you choose. A lunch walk counts as much as a morning run.

03

Cross your finish line

The leaderboard ranks total distance over the event. Progress is cumulative, so a rest day never resets anyone.

Customyou set the distance

Everyone picks the distance that motivates them. Bigger targets earn bigger rewards, scaled automatically.

Ways to run it

One format, three event styles.

24 hours

One-day virtual marathon

A single shared moment: everyone competes on the same day across distance tiers, and results land within 24 hours.

Best for: program launches and observance days

2–4 weeks

Multi-week E-Marathon

Distance accumulates over weeks, so "Walk Across America" style campaigns have room to breathe. The simplest setup in our challenge catalog.

Best for: health months and themed campaigns

Managed format

GPS race day

A real GPS-tracked marathon with live distance tracking for physical running events, configured with your account manager.

Best for: companies with an established running culture

The event playbook

When to put one on the calendar.

01 Program kickoff

Launch or relaunch your wellness program with a shared moment. The energy carries into the challenges that follow.

02 Observance days

World Health Day, World Heart Day, a company anniversary. The event maps to the date, and participation becomes a quotable metric.

03 Re-engagement spark

One day feels manageable in a way a 30-day program doesn't. A low-barrier event pulls dormant employees back in.

04 Regional head-to-head

Which office or region logs the most kilometers? Clean, fast, unambiguous bragging rights.

05 Energizer or finale

Punctuate a longer program when engagement dips, or close a quarter with a finish line.

+ Building a habit instead?

A one-day event is a punctuation moment, not a program. Pair it with a Streak or Custom challenge for the weeks that follow.

For HR & program managers

Launch in an afternoon. Recap it the next morning.

An event this size shouldn't need an events team. Configuration takes minutes; the dashboard carries the proof.

  • The simplest setup we make

Name, dates, distance ratio, audience, publish. No weekly themes, no task lists, no scoring rules to configure.

  • Promotion built in

Announce by email and in-app banner ahead of the event, then send a day-of push notification when the start line opens.

  • One event, every time zone

Start and end times localize to each participant's midnight, so a one-day marathon is one true day everywhere. Rewards set in USD display in local currency.

  • Leave with numbers

Watch check-ins and distance live, then share the recap: who joined, how far the company went, who crossed each finish line.

Enterprise trust

Global event. Local data.

A company-wide marathon touches every employee's phone, so security, privacy, and residency are part of the product, not an appendix.

Compliance

HIPAA-aligned and GDPR compliant, with SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001/27701 documentation available during evaluation.

Regional data residency

Employee data stays in its assigned region: US, EU, India, or UAE. Nothing moves across borders.

SSO & HRIS ready

SAML 2.0 single sign-on with Okta, Azure AD, OneLogin, or Ping. HRIS and SFTP provisioning keep rosters in sync.

Private by design

Admins see aggregate metrics, never individual health profiles. Leaderboard opt-out is built in, and data is never sold or shared for advertising.

FAQ

Questions HR teams ask.

Do employees have to run, or use GPS?

No. Everyday steps convert to distance automatically, so walking the dog, commuting, and lunch breaks all count. There are no routes to follow, no GPS workouts to start, and no running required. Distance is calculated from step count, not location tracking.

Do employees need a fitness tracker?

No. iPhones and Android phones count steps on their own through Apple Health and Google Fit, so anyone with a smartphone can join. Employees who have them can connect Fitbit or Garmin directly, and Apple Watch plus most popular bands sync through Apple Health. One primary device is active at a time, so steps never double-count.

One day or multi-week: which should we pick?

Pick a one-day marathon for a shared moment tied to a date, like a program launch or World Heart Day. Pick a multi-week E-Marathon (2 to 4 weeks works well) for distance campaigns and themed pushes. Many teams pair them: a one-day kickoff, then a multi-week main event.

Can our global offices join the same event?

Yes, that's the default. Start and end times localize to each participant's midnight, so a one-day marathon is one true calendar day in every time zone. Rewards configured in USD display in each employee's local currency with a country-relevant gift-card catalogue across 190+ countries.

How do the distance tiers work?

Employees choose the target that motivates them: 5K, 10K, half marathon, full marathon, or a custom distance you set. Rewards scale with the target automatically, so bigger efforts earn more and every fitness level has a real finish line.

What can we report afterward?

During the event, the admin dashboard tracks check-ins, distance covered, and finishers live. Afterward, export the leaderboard by tier, department, or country, a participation report with one row per enrolled employee, and a full points transaction ledger, all as CSVs.
